Bio

I have been fortunate to experience the many different paths that are available to an individual when they choose nursing as a career. Graduating with my ASN from Indiana University in 1982, I began my career as a staff nurse, spending over 25 years聽 in a critical care unit which I loved.聽I was President and founding member of the Northwest Indiana chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses from 2007 to 2009.聽After I obtained my BSN from Indiana University in 1992,聽I began working part time as a clinical instructor, learning I also enjoyed teaching.聽To teach in a full-time role, I obtained a master鈥檚 in nursing education in 2008 from Ball State University聽which has allowed me to teach full time or as adjunct faculty working at Purdue University, Indiana University, and Ivy Tech Community College.聽I have also worked as a hospital educator at Methodist Hospitals. I聽obtained聽 a post masters FNP from Ball State University & graduated in 2012. I currently work at the University of St. Francis-Crown Point and practice as an FNP with a local hospice. I remain a Certified Critical Care nurse as well as a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Nursing is a great career with so many options. As I tell my students, your career is what you make it!
