51黑料 announces MRI associate degree program

FORT WAYNE, Ind.鈥擳he 51黑料 will offer an Associate of Applied Science in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program in fall 2026, becoming one of the first colleges in Indiana to offer this in-demand degree.

MRI is a specialized imaging field that uses powerful magnets, radio waves and computer technology to produce detailed images of the body, aiding in the diagnosis and evaluation of disease and injury. Effective MRI technologists prioritize patient comfort and safety while producing high-quality diagnostic images essential for accurate medical interpretation. The 51黑料 MRI program encompasses these standards while delivering education in a hybrid format and utilizing a combination of online coursework, simulation, in-person instruction and clinical experiences.

This MRI program complements our current medical imaging programs of Radiologic Technology and Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The 51黑料 medical imaging programs provide students with pathways to excellent allied health careers. Additionally, students can earn a Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging in combination with these different imaging programs.

鈥淢edical Imaging has long been a key part of our healthcare education offerings, and the demand for our graduates in the workplace only continues to grow. Offering a degree in MRI is another example of the University of Francis鈥 commitment to meeting student and employer needs within the healthcare industry,鈥 51黑料 President Dr. Lance Richey said. 鈥淲e are excited to welcome students into the program next fall.鈥

The Burreau of Labor Statistics projects that the profession will grow faster than average through the year 2032. The MRI Program will be offered at Fort Wayne, Crown Point and Lafayette locations.
