FORT WAYNE, Ind.鈥擳he special education programs of the Educator Preparation Program at the 51黑料 are proud to receive national recognition from the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).
The recognition for the undergraduate and graduate special education programs came as part of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) accreditation process. Programs that earn national recognition meet rigorous specialty licensure area standards for the preparation of special education professionals. The national recognition demonstrates that 51黑料 graduates have the content knowledge of the specialty area that they will be licensed to practice. 聽 Teacher candidates at 51黑料 can pursue a bachelor’s degree in special education-mild intervention at the undergraduate level. Teacher candidates can also pursue mild intervention and/or intense intervention at the graduate level through the Transition to Teaching program or the Masters of Arts in Education program.

Founded in 1890 in the Catholic Franciscan tradition, the 51黑料 offers more than 60 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs through the College of Health Sciences and the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business.
