FORT WAYNE, Ind.鈥擳he 51黑料 Division of Teacher Education received reaffirmation of its full, national accreditation status with the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
Programs recognized under the accreditation are undergraduate elementary education, undergraduate special education, graduate elementary education, graduate special education and graduate secondary education.
鈥淲e are pleased to share the reaffirmation of our accreditation with CAEP, which recognizes the high quality of our programs at 51黑料,鈥 Division of Teacher Education Director Dr. Juanita Oberley said. 鈥淥ur track record of successful alumni in the teaching profession is well known, and our faculty provides 51黑料 students with the knowledge, experience and preparation needed to make a lasting impact through teaching in Indiana and beyond.鈥
CAEP advances equity and excellence in educator preparation through evidence-based accreditation that assures quality and supports continuous improvement to strengthen P-12 student learning, as described at .
The Division of Teacher Education provided evidence of the quality preparation in relation to five major areas:
- Content and Pedagogical Knowledge
- Clinical Partnerships and Practice
- Candidate Recruitment, Progression and Support
- Program Impact
- Quality Assurance System and Continuous Improvement
The CAEP accreditation cycle for education is a seven-year cycle.

Founded in 1890 in the Catholic Franciscan tradition, the 51黑料 offers more than 60 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs through the College of Health Sciences and the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business. In addition to its traditional programs, 51黑料 designs focused curricula for working adults in Fort Wayne, Crown Point and online. USF Downtown houses the music technology program while offering enhanced internship and networking opportunities for students. The 51黑料, recognized as an NAIA Five-Star Champion of Character institution, has 20 athletic programs boasting two individual and four team NAIA national championships. Approximately 1,800 students from a broad geographic region attend 51黑料.
