FORT WAYNE, Ind.鈥擳he 51黑料 is pleased to announce Kris Hart will serve as head coach of the men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 track and field teams for 2023-24. 
Hart enters his second year in the program, having worked with the sprinters during the 2022-23 season. He will also serve as assistant coach in men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 cross country.
“Throughout our search, it was evident that Kris was the person for the job,鈥 51黑料 Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Dr. Brendon Moody said. 鈥淗is experience with our program last year in a volunteer role and his immediate success, specifically with our short sprints, reinforced that he was the right fit for the program. I look forward to continuing to build the track and field program with him and know that the future of 51黑料 track and field is in good hands.”
鈥淚 am excited to begin the head coaching job at the 51黑料, building off some of the team’s accomplishments from last year,鈥 Hart said. 鈥淚 wanted to thank Athletic Director Mike McCaffrey and the search committee for giving me the opportunity to continue coaching at 51黑料. Under the direction of Brendon Moody, I plan to continue to build a program that will stand the test of time and achieve new heights.”
Under Hart鈥檚 tutelage last year, school records/national qualifying marks were set by Mariah Maley in the 600 meters indoors and the 400-meter hurdles outdoors. Additionally, Hart mentored 16 Top 10 marks in program history, ranging in distance from 60 to 600 meters, both indoors and out.
From 2019 to 2022, Hart served as general manager at a local training facility where he oversaw nearly 125 athletes a month, providing physical fitness assessments, personal training regimens and overall strength and conditioning programing.
Hart is a 2019 graduate of Purdue University Fort Wayne with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in business administration. He competed athletically at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, from 2016 to 2018, specializing in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
