Merit Scholarships

51���� is proud to provide merit scholarships (2026-27) to 100% of our full-time traditional undergraduate students. 51���� is dedicated to helping students achieve their educational goals through a variety of financial aid options, including scholarships, grants, loans and student employment.

Once accepted to 51����, students in traditional undergraduate programs are automatically considered for a merit scholarship based on their GPA. Merit scholarships are renewable for up to four years and are applied exclusively toward tuition and fees.

Featured scholarships

51���� Scholars

High-achieving high school seniors are invited to compete for a full- or partial-tuition scholarship at the 51���� Scholarship Competition. All awardees will also be named 51���� Scholars, signifying academic commitment and excellence.

The fall 2026 Scholarship Competition has ended.

Scholarship Competition Days will consist of two components: an essay competition and group interviews with faculty and staff. Finalists will be announced after the event, and the winners will be announced at the end of February, following the second scholarship competition date.

Other financial aid winners receive might affect their scholarship offer. This scholarship is not stackable with merit scholarships. Total financial aid, when combined with scholarships, cannot exceed the total cost of tuition and fees.

Franciscan Alliance Family Scholarship

Franciscan Alliance and the 51���� make up the twin ministries of the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration. 51���� is pleased to extend education benefits to all qualifying Franciscan Alliance coworkers and dependents at the Fort Wayne campus and Crown Point site.

51���� extends education benefits to qualifying Franciscan Alliance (and Specialty Physicians of Ill., LLC) coworkers and dependents, including a 5% tuition discount on all online master’s programs.

Catholic scholarships

Our renewable Catholic scholarships will be awarded to new full-time students who receive endorsement from their Catholic parish.*

*Endorsement must be turned in to the Office of 51���� prior to the end of your first semester

Out-of-State grant

Non-Indiana resident students beginning in the 2026-27 academic year at 51���� are automatically eligible to receive a $1,000 renewable grant toward their tuition.

Legacy grant

If your parent, sibling, grandparent, aunt, uncle or cousin graduated from the 51����, you are eligible for this grant. For the 2025-26 and 2026-27 academic years, new undergraduate students receive a $500 grant (up to four years) for continuing the family tradition.

Antoinette Murray Scholarship

The Antoinette Murray Scholarship is a scholarship valued at up to $5,000 annually. Students who meet the following conditions are eligible to apply:

• Major in education or science
• Complete 20 hours of volunteer service per year at a verifiable non-profit organization
• Earn a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Creative Arts Talent Scholarship

This is your chance to impress our faculty with your portfolio or audition to earn a scholarship to support your creative journey!

Scholarship Opportunities

Current high school juniors, seniors and transfer students have the opportunity to submit a portfolio for review and/or audition for scholarship consideration. Awarded scholarships are renewable for eight semesters if the required grade point average is maintained, in addition to any academic scholarships or need-based grants a student might also receive.

Accreditation

The 51���� is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). Founded in 1944, NASAD establishes national standards for art and design undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials.

Graduate scholarships

Transition to Teaching Scholarship

Indiana residents interested in our Transition to Teaching (T2T) program may be eligible to receive a one-time scholarship of up to $10,000, provided by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (CHE). This need-based scholarship is available to Indiana students who have a bachelor’s degree and are looking to transition into teaching. In exchange for the scholarship, students agree to teach for five years at an eligible Indiana school or repay the scholarship.

The 51���� has partnered with the Indiana Special Education Assisted Licensure (I-SEAL) program to offer scholarship opportunities for students pursuing a special education license through a transition-to-teaching program.
